Does the Playstation 5 Pro have an optical disc drive? Can I add one?

If you're making the jump from a PS5 to a PS5 Pro, something to know: the PS5 Pro does not ship with an optical drive.

If you exclusively play digital games downloaded from the PlayStation Store, that's no issue — but if you've already got a collection of physical discs, it probably stings a bit.

Can I add a disc drive?

Sony does make an add-on disc drive for the PS5 Pro — it's the same drive they've been shipping for years for the PS5 Slim. It even snaps right onto the PS5 Pro and looks right at home!

The downside: that add-on drive costs an additional $80 and, right as we're going into the Holiday season, can be hard to find in stock.
